Sitting on 3-acre lot is a busy, vibrant farm in the historic town of North Richmond, California. Through the farm’s Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, residents stop in weekly to get fresh produce or have the goods delivered. The CSA bag may include daikon, beets, snap peas . . . you can even add honey, salve, and fresh flowers. It’s a great way to have a nice variety and enjoy lots of unique treats!
In addition, twice a week, residents can visit the Nursery Stand to pick up various items from sunflowers to kale plants — these items are free!
This neighborhood gem is just getting started. After several years of planning, designing, and coordinating with various agencies, construction of a ‘new’ farm is beginning soon! The finished farm will have double the growing capacity and will boast several new features for community engagement.
The new features include a Watersheds learning center, a permanent greenhouse, a compost toilet, outdoor classrooms, a cafe, commercial kitchen, a reflection garden, cultural spaces. Check out the architectural renderings here.
As construction begins, stay tuned for information on picking up future CSA bags.
