The Clean Water Act turned 50, and the United States EPA came to the North Richmond Farm as part of its commemoration!
Radhika Fox and Martha Guzman from the Biden administration
visited Urban Tilth to learn about its green infrastructure, watershed protection, and community farming.
They heard from Doria Robinson, Urban Tilth’s Executive Director, and its Watershed Team. They were impressed with the work at the farm and the plans for the future farm, and they witnessed the beginning of construction of the rain gardens on Fred Jackson Way.
Here in our community, the Urban Tilth Watershed team provides ongoing training to our young people in creek restoration.
The rain gardens project will add a sidewalk, bike lane, (and rain gardens). The project will ease access to the farm for local residents. In addition, it will filter the pollutants from the roadway and send cleaner, filtered rainwater to nearby San Pablo Creek.
